Links, Harding should make pact

The City Paper's May 16 editorial "From whores to the 'hood, Nashville has issues" was well written and on target. It is unfortunate that Harding Academy and the Belle Meade Links neighborhood can't reconcile their differences.

Normally the neighborhood and the school would be represented in court, as has been the case with other schools seeking to expand. In this matter the Links neighborhood was able to solicit intervention from the city, so now it's Harding vs. Metro. Now the taxpayers are footing a legal bill for Belle Meade Links that may include appeals and will surely have future political ramifications.

At the heart of the issue is whether Harding should be allowed to expand its campus into the neighborhood.
