I am off somewhere else, but my heart is with my Egyptian friends in Nashville. I am so glad to read that they have made public statement by [turning] out in support of the struggle against tyranny. I wish I also had read that thousands of good Methodists and Baptists and Episcopalians and Catholics and atheists, et al., had turned out along with them. Egyptian People need to know that, as with their own plight, the American people are really and truly not "represented" by our government, by the politicians and policy makers and self-important talking heads on television.

Most of the world's peoples are good people, and it is my hope that the "good people" of all nations and religions will at some point be "in touch" and realize this. Tyranny can be defeated by the new ability to communicate. And you will see the tyrants working hard to prevent such communicating among the world's peoples.

I wish us all well in the struggle.

GD: I think Jimmy Page, along with E. Clapton and J. Beck in the "Yardbirds", didn't rip anything off.
Page brought it to Led Zep, on a sliver platter.

At 17, I was listening to "Brass Monkey", while drinking Brass Monkey.
I may not be qualified to participate in this debate.

I think I like this new coach of the Titans. He fires you, with or without cancer.

House: I'm going to be at Vanderbilt's Chancellor's Mansion in Belle Meade on Thurs. 10th.
They moved it (the Trustees) from the Commadore's Club because they said it was a "dump". Wait until they find out I'm from Detroit and my sister once dated Eminem!
Stop in and say hell-o.

I may not be on the guest list for that one. They $h*t in extremely high cotton over there.

Thanks for the 4:20 link, House. I liked the twin tenors, those Selmer Mark VI horns have that unique timbre. The black dude looked welded to his horn, that's cool, IMO. All that gyrating saxophonist stuff is crap, IMO. For the best tone, you want to stand your ground and stay welded to that horn. I liked the way the lead tenor player used a brass ligature, with the screws on the bottom side of the mouthpiece...that's old-school.

For those who think that Net Neutrality is not a big thing consider this, the very first thing that the Mubarak regime went after was the Internet. And if you think that leaving the Internet in the hands of big business is a good idea.... WAKE UP!!!

Loner,

I was reminded of an old musician joke you might get a kick out of....

How many avant-garde jazz musicians does it take to change a light bulb?

None. F**k the changes!

By: house_of_pain on 2/8/11 at 5:56

It's what I was listening to at the time, Loner. "A Decade of Steely Dan'.

"Is there gas in the car?
Yes, there's gas in the car."

That's so true, Brrrk. That's always my excuse....when I do stray, I call it going, "abstract".

By: gdiafante on 2/9/11 at 8:07

I have to correct myself, it was "Killing floor" not "Killing Fields".

No, they ripped off many blues artists, darge. It's well documented. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just a fact.

By: gdiafante on 2/9/11 at 8:11

Darge, what did you think of the Detroit Super Bowl Commercial...

I used to call it "playing out". :-)

Actually, I used to have this habit of playing the same "out" phrase at least twice in a song, (the first one being a "stray" as you call it). That way listeners would think that it was all intentional. :-)

Brrrk I don't get your comment 2/8/11 at 4:46:

Mubarak (the government) shut down the internet. But you advocate that it would be bad for business (multiple competing entities) are bad for the internet?

I must have missed something there.

Wouldn't several independent internet services be unlikely to shut themselves all down? I imaging that if NBC said it was going to strike and go off the air for a day in protest - CBS and ABC would rejoice! They'd probably call all the people advertising with NBC and get their business.

You say Mubarak, but can you replace that single name with Bush, Obama, Nixon ... do you know that our future only contains honest presidents with unquestionable integrity???
