From Gov. Phil Bredesen's eighth and final State of the State speech [Feb. 1, 2010]:
This is likely my final time to address you as Governor. We still have a lot of work to do, and it’s far too early for farewell remarks.
I do want to say, however, a most sincere thank you for the way you have treated me and worked with me and my administration these past years. I have never had a job I enjoyed as much or gave me as much satisfaction as serving as Governor. It has been a humbling experience.
To those of you who have helped me, my sincere thanks. For those of you who have not, all is forgiven now! I know how much so many of you care for our state and its people, and it has been an honor to work with you on their behalf. Thank you and Godspeed.

Good morning, Nashville!
Well, Phill Bredesen has come a long way; from Shortsville , NY to the Governor's mansion (and bunker) in Nashville, TN. Now, the savvy carpetbagger is riding off into the sunset. Let us hope that some of his favorite failures go with him.
For years, Bredesen's favorite program seemed to be his "Marijuana Eradication Program". Untold thousands, if not millions, were sucked down that rat-hole over the years, with little or no effect on the availablility of mrijuana on the streets.
While other governors were seeking ways to legalize medical marijuana or to decriminalize, if not legalize the herb, Bredesen was playing a theatrical role for the powerful Bible Belt audience in the Volunteer State. He must have played the role convincingly.
Let us hope that a new governor will propose a progressive Cannabis Taxation Program as opposed to continuing a phony Marijuana Eradication Program.
Loner, my wayward, lost, friend....if this ass-backward state cannot get wine sales into a grocery store, or sold on any given Sunday, they sure as hell aren't going to legalize or decriminalize marijuana, medical, or not. Not ever.
Bredesen, don't even think about taking that bunker with you.
Steve Cohen for TN Governor!
TN is not completely backward, D7, we have the NCP and Steve Cohen as proof.
Gotta run this morning, carry on....
Goodye and good riddance.
Howdy all!
K3 walked into a gay piano bar in Shortsville , NY and saw Bredesen and Cohen playing a gig :)
I'd vote for Cohen.
Who'd live in a city called, "Shortsville"? I always favored "Hell, Mich." or "Climax, Mich." "Santa Claus, IN" was always too happy for me.
I'd vote for Lady GaGa
d7 - I lived halfway between Mars and Freedom PA for a little while :)
Good morning

Kosh that is no way to talk to Loner.
Just kidding.
PA cities have some great names.
Shortsville is that where Superman grew up? lol
I think Bredesen was a better governor than mayor.
d7, I've been to hell Mich. Did they ever repair the dam?
I figured, girls living in "Climax" had a leg up, and gave me a head start, vs. girls living in "Hell".
I gave up on the Governor after he allowed "His" Special Session
on "Ethics" to turn into nothing more than a worthless unproductive
PR stunt. Final bill was totally written after all the public hearings and
DO Good suggestions were taken behind closed doors in a
joint agreement. What very little was accomplised was then
stripped the following yr. No matter the Governor, Speaker, Lt,
Governor, or Political Party, my beloved State has a Legislature
that is never changing in it's constant embarrsement and
manulation of it's citizens/voters!

There is something ironic about being the last poster at 5:51 and 5:54; it's sort of a dit, dit, dot, dot. Whats going on with your letters, Capt.? Call me and dictate what you wanna say and I'll type it in. That might lend credibility to my posts. After all, they are ridiculous when I write them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At 7:22 sid is talking about the last poster. Seem to me that she is the last poster.

Cpt.: She's of the belief, "You can't sue Corporations". Tell that to Toyota who has 200 lawsuits filed already, as well as the Dealerships that sold the cars.
That doesn’t surprise me, d7.

Morning capt - how are you feeling? - I'll try to hang with you guys today - fell out yesterday :(
fell out?
d7 - ever had the honor of getting flamed by hounddogharry and uncledonna at top? :)
Blanket - yeah - unfortunately literally - grandson had to put me in bed :(
D-U: Are you referring to The Tennessean w/ the abbr. "top"?
I cannot stand that paper, lately. The LTE's are brain dead, and the first two psychotics out of the box are always "ed179" and "stopthelunacy". "dooley" is sometimes 1st, and they all pile on him..."US_Male", "bj105".....I stick with USA Today, San Diego Union-Trib., Honolulu Advertiser, and the several gay papers.
sorry to hear that, Dusty. feeling better today?
lol Blanket.
Sorry to hear Dusty. Old fogies like us don’t need to be falling out.
I have been having trouble with my eyes lately. I have been far sighted as long as I can remember, but last week I can see better at a distance without my glasses. Now I can’t read. It is a complete reversal of what I am uses to seeing. I had to buy reading glasses at Target yesterday.
Nemo, is that why your typing is so much better today?
it was hard to read the braille yesterday.
Mst b Blnket. lol
d7 - yeah - the other paper with all the news 2 days late :)
blanket - hopefully so far :)
capt - my eyes fluctuate too much for glasses :(
I had to feel around yesterday. But the good news is sid is still scratching her backside trying to know what was going on. lol
Dusty is it cause of the diabetes?
capt - yeah - mostly :(
That is what I am afraid of, Dusty. It could cost me my job. Then you would be stuck with me on line more.
Capt - as long as you can stay on your meds and watch your diet you should be able to maintain? :)

Who is their right mind would want to live in an "ass backward state (that) cannot get wine sales into a grocery store, or sold on any given Sunday" and who "aren't going to legalize or decriminalize marijuana, medical, or not. Not ever"?
Who, pray tell would even move there if they lived in a utopia state where these things are readily available, even on Sunday?
States with legal (medical) mary-wanna: Alaska (LMAO); CA, CO, HI, Maine, Michigan, MT, NV, NJ, NM, Oregon, Rhode Island, VT, Washington State; and AZ (John McCain country) and MD have favorable laws.
And grocery stores selling wine, etc. are out there. Why not move to a state that you can be accommodated in, rather than kevetch about the one you chose? I mean, just asking.

States like Vermont, Florida and Nevada already allow the sale of wine and liquor in their grocery and convenience stores. In New York, you have to be licensed to sell wine and liquor.
Florida is nice; oops, no medical marijuana, but you're so close to Cuba.
Dusty
The reading glasses help a lot. I can read the paper again. Couple of weeks a go I had to take off my glasses to read and put then on to drive. Eye doctors said for me to wait and how I adjust to the meds.

sid, laws are made according to the populace which is always in flux. times change. if the majority of the populace wants wine in liquor stores then the laws would need to be adjusted to reflect that. times change. that is an inevitable fact of life.
oops - wine in GROCERY stores. i need more coffee.....

sid you CAN sue a corporation and it is done all the time.
What is protected is PERSONAL assets not corporate assets
Thanks idgaf. I stand corrected (and rightly so).
So D7, did you stop reading after I posted? Cause you APPARENTLY missed Idgaf at 8:46 a.m. correcting me and me "thanks idgaf, I stand corrected (and rightlyso).
Or did you choose to just be down right mean? I was corrected and today I learned something. I learned that you can't or don't read everything.
What is kevetch?

And being the last poster on the day is fun. When I am shutting down my computer I look to see the "next to the last post' If it's someone respectfully closing down, like DustyU I Might respond to him or not.
But then the next day, I get the last laugh cause some "curious george monkey" like D7 has gone to the last post of the day before to see what (or if) I said.
That's sort of poetic justice for me. I"m being made fun of for making the last post when I was NOT the last looker on the sight. You're so transparent D7. You seek to irk me and on a bad day for me, it works.
DustyU and Capt. hope you're both feeling better. And everyone else as well.
Capt - a good old yiddish term - we all kevetch a lot online :)
we just heard "broken record" by sid from TMI Productions.
