Viewpoints: Bredesen on the state budget

Tough times

"It is going to be a very difficult budget year. These next few months will be the most difficult of my time as governor.

We have the combination of the cuts that were made last year, then were sort of backfilled with (federal) stimulus money. And then on top of that you’ve got the cuts because the revenues have continued to go down. We are in 17 or 18 months now of declining revenues. It’s been something that hasn’t happened in this state since the Great Depression.

It’s going to be very tough and I’m committed to doing what I said I was going to do in the beginning, which is do everything in my power to trim our expenses so we don’t get ourselves out on a limb. We’re tracking the revenues.

That’s what every family right now has got to do. I think the state has to do the same thing."

Oh crap...that didn't work... If one poster's HTML errors can bugger the whole board, then there is a flaw in the system...Webmaster, what's up?

Thank the Lords od COBOL! The format is back to nomal; the page flip must have cancelled the cxommands. I clickled on the "More information" link and found that the NCP will auto-filter

According to the link, auto-filtered words are "usually foul language".

Questions arise.....: What is "foul language"?

Is there a list of filterable words? Please publish a list of the offending verbs, nouns and adjectives.

What else is auto-filterable, besides foul language? Are their PC filters for things like the "N" word etc.?

Orwelle-on-the-Cumberland will now auto-filter foul language, filtered alternatives will be automatically generated. This is incredible.

Is there a penalty for activating the auto-filtering device? So many "filters" and you get banned? What's the policy?

Test #2 shit...piss...ass...end of auto-filter test.

So much then, for the automatic part of the filtering process. My apologies to those offended by the unfiltered words.

Gee, Loner, you went off on a wild tanget of profanity; I'm off-ended and don't know if I'm ever going to re-cover.

OK, tomorrow can we get back to normal, now that you computer guru's have straightened out the CP mess?

Sold my beater. Asked $1200; it needs a new clutch; first guy who came along said "will you take $800?". I replied $700 is great. He smiled, dished out cash; I signed over title and he took beatere out of drive way. It was driveable, but he's a tow truck owner so he pulled it up on the flat bed and away they road. I'm so blessed!

We'll see if the LTE section is back, or not, Sid. Glad to hear you now have benefitted from you own personal "cash for beaters" program. That's American initiative, Sidney, Bravo!

Sorry about the Auto-Filter test failure. Will they may hire a human censor to filter the words?
