Last chance for performance poetry

This weekend marks the last chance to catch the New World Chorus as they hop on stage to honor African Americans. Zorina Pritchett, Pamela Rowe and Alicia Benjamin-Samuels will be performing poetry written by authors such as Amiri Baraka, Sonia Sanchez, Benjamin-Samuels and Pamela Rowe. Through their performance, the actors hope to show how oppressed people have fought for freedom in America and around the world. Marshal Dotson, Archie L. Davis Jr., Joe Garber, Tommy Smith and Turtle Setzer will supply music for the event. The New World Chorus will be at Davis-Kidd in Green Hills at 8 p.m. Friday and at the Riverbend Prison for Men at 6:45 p.m. Saturday. The last performance is at 7 p.m. Sunday at Dede Wallace Center in Madison. All events are free. For more information call 254-0326.
