The Remnants raid the Exit/In

Local country outfit The Remnants have transcended their beginnings as regulars at Billy Block's Western Beat and have been awarded a night of their own at the Exit/In, 2208 Elliston Place, tonight. Opening up is the straight ahead blues-rock band Catawampus, who have made a name for themselves among biker dive regulars in the Nashville area. Jo Kamsey, an Exit/In staffer, starts the evening off at 9 p.m. Cover is $5. For more information call 321-4400.

Allison Moorer headlines at 3rd and Lindsley

Country chanteuse Allison Moorer has been making music out of Nashville for years to great critical acclaim, but for all her sultry vocal talent, she can't get a thing going commercially. Perhaps that could be because nobody knows how to capture her stage persona effectively on disc. Her subtly suggestive body movements and facial expressions help exaggerate her vocal inflection and that can't be heard through a set of speakers. Better to go see her in person tonight at 9 p.m. at 3rd and Lindsley, 818 3rd Ave. South. For more information call 259-9891.
