Flurry of new programs are highlight of weekend TV

Be Your Own Hero: Call To Duty (Lifetime, 6 p.m.) looks at six women soldiers. The second annual World Stunt Awards (WKRN, Ch. 2, 7 p.m.) honors the best film and television stunt performers. Author J.K. Rowling is profiled on Biography (A&E, 7 p.m.). The French & Indian War is examined from several perspectives on When The Forest Ran Red: Washington, Braddock and a Doomed Army (WNPT, Ch. 8, 9 p.m.). The recollections of World War II veterans are presented throughout the program Viewpoint Special: The Pilots of World War II (WNPT, Ch. 8, 11 p.m.).

A first-round World Cup Soccer match (WKRN, Ch. 2) between Ireland and Cameroon airs at 2:30 p.m. Paul Rodriquez hosts the seventh annual ALMA Awards (WKRN, Ch. 2, 7 p.m.), a ceremony designed to honor achievement by Latino artists in the media and arts. Adoption (Hallmark Channel, 7 p.m.) is the first original series from the Hallmark Channel, and it chronicles real-life dramas involving adoption. The superb film Shrek (HBO, 7 p.m.) earned an Oscar last year for Best Animated Feature. Jurassic Park III (Starz, 7 p.m.) was a better effort than the second film in the series, but still a pale imitation of the original movie.
