Staff Reports

Michael Jackson, a pop music icon who transformed himself from a child star at Motown to a 1980s music video innovator, has died in Los Angeles, several news agencies have reported.

He was 50.

According to reports, paramedics who were dispatched Thursday afternoon to Jackson’s Holmby Hills home found the entertainer in cardiac arrest and worked to revive him.

Conflicting news reports make it difficult to know whether died at the home or at UCLA Medical Center, where he was rushed. Hospital staff apparently did, however, attempt to resuscitate him unsuccessfully.

Jackson’s death follows on the heels of two other celebrity passings — actress and model Farrah Fawcett, and television icon Ed McMahon.

Being a big fan of the Beatles, Elvis, and Michael Jackson, this hit me like it did when I heard Elvis was dead and John Lennon was murdered, I didn't want to believe it.

Yeah, it's shocking.

This was all so sad. The re-playing of Ed Bradley's "accusatory" and hateful interview with Michael only reinforced my belief that this young man was wrongfully accused of crimes he did not commit. I hope the people who benefitted from suing him are happy now. And I hope they lose all the money they scammed off Michael Jackson. And the media that constantly condemned him can put a lid on it now and shut up with the accusatory comments. He was a child in every sense of the word and I doubt he ever hurt any child. Hopefully he is resting in peace now. I never bought any of his albums, but I bought his truth -- that he never would hurt a child.

All the sidney said and more.

I thought that, no matter how strange he was sometimes,
he was always in great shape.

Too bad. What a gift he had.
