Great musicians aren’t the only people coming to Nashville this weekend. The hit game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire will be holding auditions as part of the CMA Music Festival activities from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hilton Nashville Downtown, 121 Fourth Ave. S.

Those who audition may wind up on either the syndicated version of the show that airs weekdays at 12 p.m. on WZTV-17 and is hosted by Meredith Vieira, or on the 10th Anniversary edition hosted by Regis Philbin that will air in August on WKRN-2. Those episodes begin Aug. 9 from 7-8 p.m. and conclude Aug. 23. The syndicated version begins its eighth daytime season Sept. 7.

Over its decade-long tenure, contestants have won more than $132 million on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The program almost single-handedly helped pull ABC out of a long ratings slump and helped fuel a new interest in prime-time game shows. It’s still a perennial favorite in both the new shows that air weekdays and the repeats that air on GSN throughout the day and evening.
