Tickets went on sale this weekend for singer, vocalist, bandleader and soundtrack master Eddie Vedder’s June 18 appearance at the Ryman Auditorium. The Vedder show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Vedder’s latest set of solo appearances coincides with the recent deluxe reissue of Pearl Jam’s Ten, the album that turned Vedder and the band into icons, and eventually sold more than 13 million copies.
Vedder and Pearl Jam have dominated both the charts specifically and the alternative rock scene in general for many years, while also generating equal publicity for such things as their three-year boycott of Ticketmaster.
Vedder is a superb guitarist, outstanding vocalist and musically imaginative type outside the sphere of any group. He’s collaborated on various projects with The Who, Neil Young, John Doe, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and R.E.M. among others, and is equally admired for his contributions to film scores and soundtracks.
Vedder is featured on the soundtracks to such films as Dead Man Walking, I am Sam, A Brokedown Melody and Body of War. His 2007 Into the Wild project blended Vedder originals with covers of such songs as Jerry Hannan’s “Society.”
Vedder won a 2008 Golden Globe award for the single “Guaranteed” and Into the Wild was nominated for both a Grammy and World Soundtrack Award.
