Report to the State

On Feb. 9 the Hillsboro Writing Academy (HWA) attended the Report to State hosted by the Boy Scouts of America. This opportunity was made possible by the Explorer program that sponsors the Writing Academy. We were given the chance to interview Sen. Fred Thompson, Mayor Bill Purcell and state Sen. Douglas Henry. We asked a wide variety of questions that were pertinent to the lives of young adults and people of the local community.

Though we were slightly nervous when we reached the podium to ask Sen. Thompson our two questions, we were relaxed by his welcoming and considerate nature.

HWA: How is your platform different from most other Republicans, and why did you decide to run for office again?

FT: You have to keep running until you drop, I guess.
