Traveling treasures

The visual arts scene in Nashville might be viewed as a constellation comprised of art galleries, art museums, and university art galleries. Shining brightly within this configuration is the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, whose opening has sparked new and renewed interest in the arts in Nashville and in surrounding communities.

When the exhibition, Modernism and Abstraction: Treasures from the Smithsonian American Art Museum opens to the public July 21, visitors will have an opportunity to view 69 rarely lent masterpieces of 20th century American Art.
