In commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the May 2010 flood, Nashvillians are invited to join Mayor Karl Dean and other community leaders for a ceremony on the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge on Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m.
The event — to be called Voices Rising: Remembering One Year Later — will include performances by musicians with the Nashville Symphony and other well-known Nashville artists soon to be announced.
Voices Rising is being produced in partnership with the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Attendees will have an opportunity to share their flood stories with the Nashville Public Library for the Nashville Flood Digital History Project. They also will get a first look at a traveling flood exhibit that will be on display this summer at community centers and other locations throughout Davidson County.
Event details will be updated online at www.nowplayingnashville.com/floodevents, which also includes a complete calendar of commemorative flood events. Others planning a commemorative flood event can list their events free on NowPlayingNashville.com by following this link: www.nowplayingnashville.com/submit/event.
