Weekly Reminder

Monday, July 23, 2001 at 1:00am

Tax time: Time is running out if you applied for an extension for your 2000 return. The return or a request for another extension has to be in the mail by Aug. 15.

School time: The first day of school is just around the corner. Metro schools open their doors Aug. 16. Check with your kids to make sure they're caught up on their summer reading assignments. It's also a good time to make sure your children know their home phone number (including area code) and address, your work number and the number of another trusted adult.

Last-minute reading: You still have time to get a couple of books read before we run out of summer. Here's a few you shouldn't miss: A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel, Running in Heels by Anna Maxtead, The John Adams Biography by David McCullough and How To Be Good by Nick Hornby.
