After much speculation, Brentwood Academy fullback/linebacker, David Holbert announced his college gridiron plans at a press conference held at Brentwood Academy today.

I want to thank my parents and friends for supporting me through this decision, said Holbert. Its been a long process, but next year Im going to be a Volunteer for the University of Tennessee. He then held up a pennant with the UT logo on it.

Holbert said Tennessee and Florida were neck and neck at the end. Auburn and LSU also had their hat in the ring for his services.

Holbert was recruited as a fullback for UT and said his chance for early playing time was the main factor in his decision.

Sophomore fullback William Revill was second on the depth chart behind senior Troy Fleming for the Vols last season and will likely be slated as Tennessees starter next season.

I think Ill come in as the No. 2, said Holbert. But I dont like being No. 2. They have a new running backs coach so Im going to start off with a clean slate.
