Belmont’s Dylan Craig was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year in baseball, it was announced Wednesday.
Craig, an outfielder from Signal Mountain, also was named to the All-Freshman and all-conference second teams. He started every game and led the Bruins with a .397 average and nine triples. He also scored 43 runs, drove in 32 and stole eight bases in 10 attempts.
Lipscomb pitcher Rex Brothers, a junior from Shelbyville, was a first-team all-conference selection. Brothers led the conference with 126 strikeouts and finished the regular season needing four to reach the top 10 in all-time strikeouts by an Atlantic Sun pitcher. He also led the conference in opponents’ batting average (.213).
In addition to Craig, Belmont first baseman Derek Wiley and third baseman Brandon McCall were second-team selections.
Lipscomb had three players named to the All-Freshman team, utility player Antonio Butler, first baseman Tennyson Dodd and infielder M.L. Williams.
