Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Tony Brown underwent surgery on the right knee that kept him out of the season-finale in Seattle.

Brown, who was a first alternate to the Pro Bowl, originally injured his quadriceps against the St. Louis Rams on Dec. 13 and drainage from that injury seeped into the knee area causing swelling.

Brown had hoped to avoid surgery because of the possibility of going to the Pro Bowl, but elected to undergo surgery.

Other Titans to have had surgery in recent weeks include safety Michael Griffin, whose shoulder injury bothered him for much of the season, and cornerback Nick Harper, who also had a shoulder injury. Safety Kevin Kaesviharn also had surgery on his shoulder. Long snapper Ken Amato had surgery on his knee.

None of the surgical procedures are believed to be serious, and all should be able to participate in the Titans off-season work.
