University School of Nashville star Meiko Lyles and MBA’s Holden Mobley have been named as Mr. Basketball finalists, the TSSAA announced Wednesday.

Lyles is averaging about 26 points per game as Nashville’s leading boys scorer and has led the Tigers into the DI-A sectionals Saturday when they seek their second straight state tournament trip. He was a finalist last year.

Mobley, one of the Big Red’s top scorers, three-point shooters and rebounders, has led MBA into the DII-AA sectionals where they play at MUS Saturday.

Also, Franklin Road Academy freshman Derica Wyatt, the Panthers’ leading scorer at 18 ppg, was named as a finalist in DII-A girls, along with Davidson Academy standout Alexandria Warfield.

In DII-AA, the Nashville area was honored with all three finalists – Marie Carpenter of Ensworth, Taylor Reece of Brentwood Academy and Paige Baechle of Pope JPII.

The Nashville area had no finalists in DI competition, boys or girls.

The DII winners will be announced during the state championship games at Lipscomb Allen Arena on March 6. The DI winners will be announced during the finals at MTSU on March 13 (girls) and March 20 (boys).
