PLAY OF THE DAY: Cornerback Eric King deflected a Vince Young pass away from receiver Paul Williams in a team drill, and safety Vincent Fuller made a nice adjustment on the tip to pick the ball off.

That play barely edged out a diving catch from rookie Lavelle Hawkins in seven-on-seven drills on a throw from third-string quarterback Ingle Martin.

TOPIC OF CONVERSATION: The Titans continue to be careful with several veterans in camp, especially along the defensive front recently where Jevon Kearse, Tony Brown and Albert Haynesworth have all gotten practices off on occasion thus far. Kearse was back after a rest on Monday afternoon, but Brown was out and Haynesworth took part only in the early portion of practice and did no work in team periods.

WORTH NOTING: Most onlookers and pundits believe Eugene Amano is the frontrunner to win the open left guard position in preseason, but Leroy Harris slid in and got some first-team work at the position for one of the few times in camp thus far. Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Harris will continue to get some work with the starters over the coming days along with Amano.

INJURIES: Safety Michael Griffin did not finish practice Tuesday and had an ice pack on his right leg just below the knee. Fisher said there was no problem with Griffin, who gave way to Vincent Fuller at safety during the final few drills.

The Titans continue to be cautious with Justin McCareins’ hamstring injury, though McCareins has said the injury is not serious.

Rob Bironas and Josh Miller continue to miss time as they rehab groin injuries.

KEEP AN EYE ON: Roydell Williams, just back from the PUP list a day earlier, made a nice grab in team drills on the sideline. Williams is currently running second team, but if he shows himself healthy and on the road to recovery from his broken ankle can still figure strongly into the wide receiver mix. Williams will likely be used in limited fashion in joint practices with the Rams over the next two days.
