CITY PAPER CAMP CONFIDENTIAL

Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008

PLAY OF THE DAY: The Titans had a mini version of the Immaculate Reception during a two-minute drive at the end of practice Wednesday. OK, it wasn’t as dramatic as Terry Bradshaw’s batted pass that Franco Harris took for a touchdown, but it at least was interesting. Quarterback Ingle Martin’s intended pass for Craig Stevens bounced into the air when Stevens and Colin Allred collided. Running back Omar Cuff then scooped the ball out of the air and headed upfield.

TOPIC OF CONVERSATION: Jevon Kearse, after missing two days of practice to rest and mend, was back on the field and running with the first team defense at left end Wednesday. Kearse is expected to play Friday against Oakland, but his backup Jacob Ford is in question with leg tightness after missing a second straight day.

WORTH NOTING: Chris Davis (Wake Forest) attempted to make a sideline catch, and as Chris Carr and Calvin Lowry converged on the play, all three players wound up out of bounds, and Carr wound up in the temporary fence that separates spectators from the practice field. No one was injured.

INJURIES: The Titans will exercise precaution with Nick Harper, who suffered a concussion on the first play of the game against the St. Louis Rams last Saturday. Harper will sit out against the Raiders, and Eric King will get the start.

KEEP AN EYE ON: The Titans worked out three defensive backs on Wednesday, but did not move to sign any of them. Those included former Tennessee player Jonathan Hefney, Montana’s Tuff Harris and Oklahoma State’s Martel Van Zant, who is deaf.
