CITY PAPER CAMP CONFIDENTIAL
Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008
PLAY OF THE DAY: In a two-minute drill, an Ingle Martin pass was tipped and appeared to be headed toward an incompletion. However, receiver Chris Davis (Wake Forest) came back from his route, adjusted and made a diving catch on the ball.
TOPIC OF CONVERSATION: When camp breaks, the dizzy bat race involving the rookies is usually the most noteworthy item. Not this time, however. While all the other Titans rookies were being spun around and pelted with ice and Gatorade, injured rookies Lavelle Hawkins and Cary Williams got it 10 times worse. They were taped to a light pole by Keith Bulluck, Albert Haynesworth and Rob Bironas, then sprayed with mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, chocolate syrup and baby powder. On top of that, it then began to rain, drenching them in the mess.
WORTH NOTING: A day after Cortland Finnegan and Edward Williams had a brief scrape on the practice field, Finnegan made a stellar play against Williams, taking a ball away from the receiver for an interception of a Kerry Collins pass.
INJURIES: Six players will not play against the Atlanta Falcons. Those are Cary Williams (quad), Hawkins (ankle), Bironas (groin), Chris Carr (shoulder), David Stewart (knee) and Bulluck (calf). Albert Haynesworth (soreness) also did practice Wednesday.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Tuff Harris, just signed to the roster two days ago, will get a chance to return punts in the second half against Atlanta.
