Juniors Kerron Johnson and Adam Barnes led a second-half surge as Belmont defeated Swiss team SAV Vacallo 82-60 Tuesday in the first game of its exhibition tour through Italy.

The Bruins led by one, 35-34, at halftime before its depth and aggressive defense became significant factors.

There were no official statistics for the contest, which was played under international rules.

Belmont’s next scheduled contest is Friday morning against Arca Impressa Lucca, an Italian Professional League team.

Two on Tuesday: Vanderbilt will be featured twice on ESPN’s ‘Super Tuesday’ broadcasts during the 2011-12 season.

The Commodores will face Arkansas on the road on Jan. 31 and host Florida on Feb. 28 at Memorial Gymnasium. Both games will begin at 8 p.m. (CST).

The ‘Super Tuesday’ package begins Jan. 20 and concludes with the Vanderbilt-Florida contest. One SEC game is included each week.

The game at Vanderbilt will be the Gators’ fourth appearance during that time.
