SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Shan Foster scored 18 points and Vanderbilt used a stifling defense to roll past George Washington 77-44 Thursday at Arco Arena in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Commodores (21-11) will face Washington State on Saturday.

VU made 11 of its first 19 3-point attempts and raced to a 45-20 halftime lead.

Defensively, the Commodores held the Colonials (23-9) to season-low totals in points and shooting percentage.

It marked the largest margin of victory in school history for Vanderbilt in NCAA Tournament games.
