As baseball season winds its way toward the World Series despite the forecasts of some chilly temperature, members of the 2009 Nashville Sounds team, as well as past Sounds players, are warming up in winter ball.

Sounds outfielder Brendan Katin, who led Nashville with 24 home runs and 92 RBIs last season, is playing in the Venezuelan Winter League this off-season, as are six other current and former sounds.

Several players with Nashville ties are being represented in the Mexican Winter League, including former pitcher Humberto Cota.

The Dominican Winter League hasn’t started yet, but look for some Sounds players to hone their skills there as well.
