ESPN's College GameDay crew will be on the Vanderbilt campus on Saturday as the Commodores play host to Auburn, ESPN officials said Sunday.
The popular weekly show, hosted by Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard, will make its first appearance in Nashville. Kickoff for the game is 5 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN. Tickets are sold out.
"This is tremendous for our university, Coach (Bobby) Johnson's program and this great city," said David Williams, Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor for Student Athletics and University Affairs. "ESPN's decision to bring College GameDay to Vanderbilt speaks volumes about the outstanding job Bobby Johnson had done during his tenure and the student-athletes he has attracted into our football program. We're extremely pleased and excited about this announcement."
Added Johnson: "I think it's great for our university, our fans, and our players and coaches. It's definitely going to add to the excitement level as we prepare for an important SEC game."
Vanderbilt, 4-0, will attempt to reach 5-0 for the first time since World War II on Saturday. Auburn, 4-1, is oming off a 4-12 win over Tennessee on Saturday.
Vanderbilt moved up to No. 19 Sunday in the latest Associated Press and USA Today coaches' polls. It matches the school's highest ranking since 1984.
