Ex-Florida star Lance dies of heart attack

Nashville’s Bobby Lance, a former star football quarterback and track star for Florida in the mid-1950s who played briefly for the Green Bay Packers, died of a sudden heart attack Tuesday while playing tennis.

Lance later became a standout senior ranked tennis player. His son Fletcher was a four-year tennis letterman at MBA and two-year letterman at Vanderbilt (1986-87).

Visitation will be Monday at 12:30 p.m., followed by the funeral at 1:30 p.m., both at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike.
