Former Tennessee Titans linebacker Peter Sirmon has accepted the linebackers coaching position at Central Washington University, a Division II school in Ellensburg, Wash.

Sirmon, 31, played four years at the University of Oregon before being selected in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Titans. Sirmon became a starter for Tennessee in 2002 and remained with the club before retiring after the 2006 NFL season.

Since his retirement, Sirmon has been selling real estate in Brentwood and also worked with WZTV’s Sunday night show “The SportsZone,” as well as doing work for the Titans Radio Network.

“I’ve been exploring coaching opportunities for a while, and it’s close to where I grew up,” Sirmon said. “I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be coaching linebackers, and I’ll be recruiting the Eastern Washington area. It’ll be good to get back to an area where I’m from.”
