Another former Tennessee Titan has found a new home as Antowain Smith agreed to a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints Friday.
Smith, a backup running back for the Titans this past season, visited New Orleans approximately three weeks ago, and the Saints were extremely interested in signing the veteran after meeting with him.
Saints coach Jim Haslett and the organization are trying to bring in players who have been part of winning programs in the past to instill a winning attitude in the Saints locker room, and Smith, a veteran of two Super Bowl wins with the New England Patriots, fits the bill.
Smith, who just turned 33 last month, will back up Saints star Deuce McAllister in New Orleans. He backed up Chris Brown for the Titans last year and finished with 509 yards on 137 rushes, including four starts while Brown was nursing a turf toe injury.
There has been talk of the Titans perhaps bringing Eddie George back in a backup role, but the chances of that appear slim.
Tennessee is more likely to add another running back at some point among their nine picks in this year
