A one-yard TD smash by QB Whit Mahan in overtime and a game-ending fumble recovery by Michael Rogan propelled Goodpasture to an exciting 20-14 win over Lipscomb Friday night before about 4,000 fans.
The Cougars rallied to tie the game when Rogan made a leaping reception of a Mahan pass for 19 yards which evened the score at 14-14 with 2:18 left. A 48-yard field goal attempt by Lipscomb’s Kyle Lehning on the final play of the fourth quarter was blocked.
Top-ranked 2A Goodpasture went to 6-0, while No. 2 ranked 3A Lipscomb (4-1) lost its first game of the season.
