Free agent wide receiver Torry Holt is scheduled to visit with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, according to a league source.
Holt, 32, was released by the St. Louis Rams in a salary cap move earlier this month after 10 seasons with the club.
The Titans have had interest in Holt for sometime, and made contact with his agent Kennard McGuire last week, apparently to initiate the process.
Tennessee needs help at wide receiver where only returnee Justin Gage and recent signee Nate Washington offer any measurable experience. Washington signed a six-year, $27 million deal with $9 million in guarantees earlier in the off-season.
Behind them, depth is thin with second-year man Lavelle Hawkins, third-year players Chris Davis and Paul Williams and journeyman Craphonso Thorpe.
Holt caught 64 passes for a woeful Rams team last season, a career low in receptions, but a total that still would have led all pass catchers for the Titans.
Holt is 11th all-time in receptions with 869 career catches.
He made his first free agent visit last week with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but left the Titans’ AFC South rival without agreeing to a deal.
Holt is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection in his career and has topped the 1,300-yard receiving mark six times in his 10-year NFL career.
SCAIFE ABSENT: Tight end Bo Scaife, who was tagged with the $4.46 million franchise tender, has not been taking part in off-season workouts with his teammates, according to multiple sources.
Scaife apparently is the only player to have not at least made an appearance at the 14-week off-season program thus far, but that is not a surprise since he has not signed the franchise tender, and thus is not officially under contract until he does sign.
Last year, when Albert Haynesworth was given the franchise tag, he missed the entire off-season program and only signed an incentive-laden tender just before the start of training camp.
Scaife is hoping for a long-term deal with the Titans, and the two sides have until July 15 to work out an extension or he would have to play for the tender offer.
