Terry Hemontoler, a long-time assistant in Middle Tennessee, has been hired as the new head football coach at Hunters Lane High School.

Hemontoler, 61, most recently was an assistant at the school under Richard Campbell, who resigned last month.

“It’s a great honor to continue the wonderful tradition this school has been blessed with under Jerry Pigue (the school’s first football coach) and then later Richard Campbell,” Hemontoler said.

This will be the first head coaching job for Hemontoler, who noted that he is prepared to keep it for some time.

“Once a football coach, always a football coach,” he said. “I plan to be a coach as long as my health stays good. Right now, my health is good.”

Hemontoler was an assistant for 18 seasons at Mt. Juliet. Following a brief stop at La Vergne, he then spent 11 years with Ron Aydelott (eight at Hillsboro and three at Riverdale) before he moved to Hunters Lane last year.

“I have been blessed to work under some great coaches,” he said.
