Ingle Martin signed by KC Chiefs

As the Tennessee Titans try to solidify their backup quarterback situation, one option they previously was removed Tuesday when Ingle Martin was signed off their practice squad by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Martin, a Nashville native and former Montgomery Bell Academy star, had spent all of 2007 on the Tennessee practice squad and was back for more this season.

The Titans have lost starting quarterback Vince Young with a knee injury while the results of an MRI were still aware.

“We had some discussions with the Titans about Ingle moving up, but in the end, Ingle just felt that Kansas City was a situation he couldn’t pass up,” agent Jack Reale said.

Martin will backup Damon Huard in Kansas City after Brodie Croyle suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s opener against the New England Patriots.

The Titans are now choosing between Joey Harrington, Quinn Gray and Doug Johnson to see who backs up Kerry Collins.

Since the Titans were not going to put Ingle on the active roster, he will probably make substantially more money in a few games on the Chiefs active roster than on the Titans practice squad all season.

Ingle didn't have a future here because he can throw well and not turn it over. The Titans must always have a interception-prone, below average hurler on their roster.
