Kearse charged with DUI

Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Sunday morning on West End Avenue.

Kearse, 31, was stopped by Vanderbilt University Campus Police at the intersection of West End and 29th Avenue around 4:42 a.m. after the officer noticed a Cadillac Escalade traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving, according to a police report.

Police say Kearse submitted to field sobriety test, which according to a statement from Vanderbilt senior public affairs officer Jim Patterson, indicated that Kearse was impaired. The Titans star then refused a breathalyzer test, according to the report. He was transported to the Criminal Justice Center downtown where he was booked and charged with driving under the influence and violation of Tennessee’s implied consent law.

Police say there were two passengers in the vehicle along with Kearse. The vehicle was released to one of the two passengers at Kearse’s request.

A Titans spokesman said the club was aware of the arrest, but had no comment regarding the matter.

Kearse re-signed with the Titans in March, after spending the past four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was the Titans’ first-round pick in 1999 and was NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year that season, helping the team to its only Super Bowl appearance.

Guess he learned more than football from the Titans.

What is it about signing with the Titans and then putting on a Tennessee Titans uniform that turns UP STANDING, LAW-ABBIDDING CITIZENS INTO CRIMINALS?

jw, look around, it is not just the Titans.

The police should turn him over to me. I'll take gooooood care of him. After a few days with me, he'll be too tired to drive under the influence.

Why do guys that make millions insist on driving? If I had the money I wouldn't drive even when I was sober!

I posted this yesterday. Jevon, I am a big fan of yours. Your jersey was the first Titans jersey I owned. I am glad I can get it out again and wear it proudly. This is your first offense and hopefully your last. I am glad you were pulled over before you hurt or killed someone or yourself. Take a cab or limo or at least have a DD.

Apparently NY is a fan also. And we just got rid of Pacman!Football players tend to get a little too bored in the off season. At least no guns or strippers were involved.

Jevon, if you ever need a ride baby, call me.

Jevon, I hope your experience in the Metro Jail was a sobering one for you. You are too good of an athelete to let alcohol or drugs dumb you down. I think you know that you can do better for yourself. And your team. And your fans.

NewYorker1, please move back there. I agree with the "hire a driver" idea - Just don't hire NewYorker1...
