Kyle Busch is scheduled to roll into Music City Sunday to run at Fairgrounds Speedway.

Kyle Busch, one of the NASCAR’s hottest young drivers, is scheduled to roll into Music City Sunday to run the Budweiser All-American 150 at Fairgrounds Speedway.

Busch will compete in Saturday night’s Cup race in Richmond, Va., then fly to Nashville for Sunday’s event. Ron Lawler will practice and qualify Busch’s car in Saturday afternoon’s time trials.

Carrying the area colors will be Hartsville driver Zach Taylor, who earlier this year signed to drive for a Michigan-based team owned by nationally acclaimed racer Tim Steele.

Saturday’s practice starts at 1 p.m. followed by 4 p.m. qualifying. On Sunday the gates open at 10 a.m. with the race program starting at 2 p.m. It includes a 50-lap Late Model race for local drivers.

Two former track champions, Andy Johnson of Mt. Juliet and Mark Day of Clarksville, split the season’s first two regular-season events. Semi-retired NASCAR star Sterling Marlin was runner-up to Day in last Saturday night’s feature.

Sterling’s 19-year-old daughter Sutherlin has generated national media attention with her scheduled racing debut at the track later this spring.

Danny Denson, who took control of the track this year, said his goal is to bring back the crowds and excitement that once made Fairgrounds Speedway the nation’s premier weekly racetrack. He said bringing in a high-profile driver like Busch is a step in that direction.
