Lofton's shot helps UT survive at SEC tourney

ATLANTA -- A 3-pointer by Chris Lofton with 11.4 seconds remaining lifted Tennessee to an 89-87 victory over South Carolina on Friday in the second round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at the Georgia Dome.

The fourth-ranked Vols will play the winner of today's Arkansas-Vanderbilt game on Saturday in the tournament semifinals.

Wayne Chism led UT [29-3] with 23 points. Devan Downey paced South Carolina [14-18] with 26.
