Montgomery Bell Academy is hosting its third annual 7-on-7 football passing camp Friday, with nine teams competing, including three from the host Big Red.
“It’s something we’ve really enjoyed hosting ever since I became coach (in 2007),’’ said Coach Daniel McGugin. “It’s a gesture we want to make at MBA where there is a good blend of public and private schools, city and country schools.’’
Teams include the MBA Cardinal, Silver and A teams, the Dickson County A and B teams, along with Centennial, Hillwood, Maplewood, McGavock, Beech and Pearl-Cohn.
Play begins at 9 a.m. and will run through 1 p.m., with each session lasting 20 minutes in the round-robin format.
“It’s not a tournament format, it’s just an event where teams can work on their passing games as they look toward the start of the season,’’ he said. “And it gives teams and players a chance to build up some good relationships in this type of setting.’’
Games will be played on four fields — two on the football main and practice fields and two on the baseball fields.’’
MBA will open its football season at home on Saturday, Aug. 22 in the Clinic Bowl Kickoff Classic against Pearl-Cohn.
