The Nashville Sounds have named Mike Guerrero as their manager for the 2012 season.
Guerrero, who replaces Don Money, comes to Nashville from Double-A Huntsville, also in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system, where he managed the Stars to a 131-146 record in two years. In nine seasons bouncing between Brewers and Kansas City Royals affiliates, he never rose above the Double-A level.
Guerrero’s older brother, Sandy, spent the last three seasons with the Sounds before being promoted to roving hitting instructor.
Guerrero, 43, is the 23rd manager in Sounds history. He has managed in the Arizona, South Atlantic and Florida State leagues. It is his first time at the Triple-A level as a player or manager.
Additionally, Al Laboeuf, 51, was named hitting instructor. Leboeuf has spent the majority of his playing and coaching career in the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays systems.
The rest of the staff will be announced at a later date.
