MTSU’s Brentz, UT’s Forsythe help power Team USA past Canada

The Middle Tennessee contingent played a big part in Team USA’s national collegiate squad’s 20-3 pounding of Team Canada on Sunday in Durham, N.C.

Eleven different players registered a hit for Team USA and the USA Baseball National Team won its fourth straight in Durham, 28th straight win as a squad.

Tennessee’s Blake Forsythe had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run, and Bryce Brentz of Middle Tennessee State went two-for-three and scored twice.

Vanderbilt’s Sonny Gray pitched an inning of relief, allowing no earned runs and striking out a pair.

Team USA then runs in the second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth innings. Team USA and Team Canada will finish its five game series Monday at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

With the win, the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) has won 28 consecutive games dating back to last summer.
