The Southeastern Conference announced Friday that Bridgestone Arena will be the site of its men’s basketball tournament in 2015, 2016 and 2019. The arena also previously was picked the tournament’s venue in 2013.
That means that the SEC tournament will be held in downtown Nashville four times over the next decade.
“We are excited about continuing our relationship with the city of Nashville,” commissioner Mike Slive said in a release announcing the schedule. “Nashville provides SEC teams and fans a great postseason experience. This past year’s tournament at Bridgestone Arena was one of the most exciting in recent memory.”
Bridgestone Arena has hosted the event three times, including the most recent one.
“As we experienced this year, the Bridgestone Arena and downtown campus provides an exciting and electric atmosphere for players, fans and media,” Nashville Sports Council president and CEO Scott Ramsey said. “We are appreciative of the confidence the SEC has in Nashville as a host city and look forward to welcoming everyone back to Nashville on a regular basis over the next decade.”
