The Nashville Predators will have a full roster for Thursday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Predators once again reached the 23-man limit with the addition of forwards Brandon Yip, who was claimed off waivers from Colorado, and Jerred Smithson, who was activated off injured reserve.
Yip, 26, scored 23 goals in 113 appearances over parts of three seasons with the Avalanche following a four-year college career at Boston University, where he was a teammate of Nashville forward Colin Wilson for two seasons. The two played on a team that won the 2009 NCAA championship.
Yip appeared in 71 games last season and finished with 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) but did not have a point in 10 appearances this season, during which he missed time with arm and groin injuries. He split time between the AHL and NHL in 2009-10.
He originally was an eight-round pick in 2004 by Colorado.
Smithson appeared in Nashville’s first 41 games but missed the last five with a lower body injury.
The Predators start the day in sixth place in the Western Conference standings, four points behind fifth-place St. Louis.
