The event is called the Skate of the Union.

One look at the schedule for what has become one of the Nashville Predators’ annual offseason events, though, makes it seem much more like an economic stimulus package.

The centerpiece event is a town-hall style event that features comments from some of the top members of the organization, including coach Barry Trotz and chairman Tom Cigarran.

That takes place 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bridgestone Arena and concludes with the first official public viewing of the team’s new jerseys.

The day’s schedule of events actually commences, though, at 10 a.m. with a Predators Pro Shop sidewalk sale and a select-a-seat open house designed to add to the season-ticket base. At 11:30 a.m., a used equipment sale for season ticket holders begins. At 2 p.m., the used equipment sale is opened to all fans.

Additional events include a plaza party (3 p.m.), locker room tours (4 p.m.) and autograph signings with current — Ryan Suter and Blake Geoffrion —  and former — Scott Walker and Stu Grimson — Predators (4:30 p.m.).

A year ago the Skate of the Union included the introduction of Shea Weber as team captain.
