Nashville Predators’ center David Legwand has become the center attention after being charged with Driving Under the Influence Feb. 15.

Legwand was traveling on Eighth Avenue South in his 2006 Range Rover when police clocked him going 51 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to police reports.

The officer who stopped him reported Legwand’s eyes were bloodshot and watery and his pupils were dilated. He had an odor of alcohol and he stated he was coming from a concert where he had one beer, according to police reports.

Police said he later admitted to having two large glasses of wine at dinner and two larges glasses of beer at the concert.

He verbally refused the breath test saying he thought he might register higher than the legal limit of .08, according to police.

On Dec. 7, 2007, Legwand signed a six-year, $27 million contract extension with the Predators.

Legwand is schedule to be in court March 12.

Hockey players are known for not having a lot of legal troubles. This is definitely out of the ordinary. I am actually really surprised. He is my favorite preds player. Come on Leggy, what were you thinking!

I have lost absolutely no respect for Legwand simply because a policemen suspected him of being drunk and acted out the suspicion. My guess is that Legwand is a better citizen of Davidson County than 50% of the policemen.
