The Nashville Predators acquired Dustin Boyd from the Calgary Flames on Wednesday prior to the 2 p.m. (CST) NHL trading deadline.
Nashville sent a fourth-round pick to the Flames in exchange for the 23-year-old, who has played 192 games over parts of four NHL seasons. He has 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 60 games this season.
He essentially steps into the spot opened up earlier in the day when forward Ryan Jones was claimed off waivers by Edmonton. With a current salary of $650,000, though, Boyd comes at one-third less cost.
Boyd originally was a third-round pick (98th overall) by the Flames.
