Predators rally, fall short at Atlanta

Pekka Rinne allowed three goals on eight shots and the Nashville Predators’ preseason win streak ended with a 5-4 loss at Atlanta on Wednesday.

The Predators scored twice in the final 2:08 but gave up the first two goals of the contest and never got even.

Martin Erat’s second goal of the night, with 1:40 to play, capped the scoring. Erat also had a power-play goal at 11:13 of the second period. David Legwand assisted on both.

Patric Hornqvist also had two assists, one each on goals by Mike Santorelli and Peter Olvecky.

Dan Ellis started in goal and played the first 31:03. He faced 13 shots before he left with the Predators behind 2-1.

The Thrashers made it 3-1 with their first goal against Rinne, which came with 1:10 to play in the second period.

Nashville’s next preseason game is Saturday at home against Carolina.
