The Nashville Predators made a minor trade Saturday when they got Brodie Dupont from the New York Rangers in exchange Andreas Thuresson.

Both players are restricted free agent forwards.

Dupont, 24, is a rugged 6-foot-2, 212-pound left wing who has topped 100 penalty minutes in four of the last six American Hockey League seasons. He made his NHL debut with one appearance for the Rangers last season.

Originally a third-round draft choice of the Rangers in 2005, he has 148 points and 389 penalty minutes in 297 career AHL games.

Thuresson, a fifth-round pick by Nashville in 2007, played 22 games for the Predators in 2009-10 and three more last season but spent the majority of the last three seasons at Milwaukee. The 23-year-old right wing had one goal and two assists in his NHL games.
