The Nashville Predators will open the 2010-11 season against the Anaheim Ducks, Oct. 9 at Bridgestone Arena.

That will kick off a stretch in which five of the first six games are at home. Among those contests will be ones against Eastern Conference opponents Pittsburgh and Washington.

The complete NHL schedule will be released at 11 a.m. (CDT) Tuesday.

This will be the first time in three seasons the Predators begin play with a game in Nashville. They won in overtime last season at Dallas and lost at St. Louis to kick off 2008-09.

Prior to that they started four straight campaigns at home, beginning in 2003-04 when they hosted Anaheim –coincidentally on Oct. 9 – and won 3-1.

Last season, four of Nashville’s first six were at home and in 2007-08, four of the first five were at Bridgestone Arena.

In both cases, the team failed to take advantage. The Predators lost three of their first four home games and six of their first eight overall last season. In 2007-08, the opened with two victories – both at home – but then lost six straight, including a par on their own ice.
