Friday, February 1, 2008 at 12:41pm

The Nashville Predators are expected to announce a new four-year agreement with forward J.P. Dumont today.

The contract is expected to be a total package worth $16 million according to TSN, news sources and one team official.

Dumont has a 16-game points streak, the longest streak currently in the NHL.

He finished the month of January with 20 points, second only to Washington Capitalsstar Alex Ovechkin who had 23. He was named the Second Star for the month of January by the NHL. Ovechkin was the First Star.

Predators captain Jason Arnott had strongly urged the Predators to re-sign Dumont, one of his linemates, in a City Paper story Monday.

Dumont would have been an unrestricted free agent in June.
