The Nashville Predators signed free-agent forward Ian McKenzie from the Western Hockey League on Tuesday, the club announced.

McKenzie, 20, spent the last four full seasons in Western Hockey League playing 228 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors (2004-07) and the Seattle Thunderbirds (2007-08). In 2007-08 with Seattle, the Weyburn, Sask., native nearly doubled his career high in points, registering 19 goals and 21 assists to go along with 103 penalty minutes in 68 games. The 6-4, 222-pound right wing also led the Thunderbirds in playoff scoring with 14 points in 12 games.

I am a huge Predators fan, but I need some hockey experts here to tell me if this was a good signing. I like his size, youth, and the 19 goals, what does everyone else think?

Well, we need more wingers that can score and he's got pretty good size. I think they're trying to get someone on the cheap because it doesn't look like there will be a lot available come July.
