Greg de Vries scored the eventual game-winner in the second period to help the Nashville Predators tie their first-round playoff series with Detroit with a 3-2 victory at the Sommet Center on Wednesday.
The series is now tied 2-2.
Dan Hamhuis and Shea Weber each scored a goal in the first period to give the Predators a 2-0 lead going into the second period. Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk scored at 6:24 of the second period to cut the lead to 2-1, then de Vries scored 11 seconds later — with assists from Martin Erat and Weber — to stretch the lead to 3-1.
Datsyuk scored again in the third period to make it 3-2, but the Predators held on for the big win.
Hamhuis scored a power-play goal with assists from Alexander Radulov and Erat at 5:18 of the first period and Weber scored at 5:50 of the stanza to get the Predators off to a good start.
