Staff reports

Tennessee Titans quarterback Chris Simms was arrested Thursday morning in New York and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by marijuana, according to a report in the New York Post.

The story said that, according to a source, Simms had red eyes, slurred speech and admitted to officers that he had smoked marijuana.

The Titans released only a brief statement on the matter: "We are aware of the reports and are in the process of gathering more information."

Simms is the second Titans’ quarterback in less than a month to encounter legal troubles. Vince Young was cited for assault following an incident last month at a Dallas strip club.

The son of former New York Giants’ quarterback Phil Simms, Chris Simms was signed as a free agent in April. He also played for the Titans in 2008 and was a teammate of Young’s at the University of Texas.

The NFL office made no ruling in regard to a possible suspension for Young under the league’s personal conduct policy. Simms’ arrest created the possibility that two Titans’ quarterbacks might be unavailable for disciplinary reasons at the start of the season.

Obviously the punishment given by the commish doesn't appear to be a deterent.

If the Titans had any brains they would sign Ingle Martin as back-up quarterback. He has a better arm than Simms and he would at least stay out of trouble.

Hopefully when football season starts, Fisher can assemble a team.
Confused about the 'red eyes and slurred speech". How much dope did this guy smoke? Should of been, "giggle alot when asked questions".
I think he was drunk.

He was arrested but the story doesn't show any crime. Where are the important details. There is a HUGE difference between assaulting someone and being in your car after smoking wacky weed.
